Navi Mumbai International Airport will open for business on 25th December

Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), India’s newest greenfield airport, will start commercial operations on December 25 (Christmas Day) with 23 scheduled daily departures.

NMIA will run for 12 hours in the first month, from 8:00 to 20:00, managing 23 scheduled daily departures.

The airport will handle up to ten airplane movements per hour at this time.

IndiGo 6E460, which is scheduled to land at 8:00 AM from Bengaluru, will be the first flight to reach NMIA. The first departure from the new airport will be IndiGo 6E882, which is scheduled to depart for Hyderabad at 8:40 AM.

According to the airport, passengers will benefit from flights run by IndiGo, Air India Express, and Akasa Air during the initial launch period, linking Mumbai to 16 important domestic cities.

In order to accommodate the growing demands of the MMR, the airport will increase to 34 daily departures and begin operating around the clock in February 2026.

In cooperation with all parties involved, including security services and airline partners, NMIA is carrying out extensive Operational Readiness and Airport Transfer (ORAT) experiments.

On October 29, 2025, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was formally inducted at NMIA and deployed to key airport functions, further bolstering its readiness.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s October 8 NMIA inauguration laid the groundwork for a methodically managed operational implementation that prioritized passenger safety, dependability, and comfort from the outset.

The launch will provide capacity to meet the Mumbai Metropolitan Region’s (MMR) expanding aviation needs.

A special purpose company called Navi Mumbai International Airport Private Limited (NMIAL) was created to plan, build, run, and maintain the Greenfield International Airport project.

Mumbai International Airport Limited (MIAL), a subsidiary of Adani Airports Holdings Limited (AAHL), owns 74% of NMIAL, a public-private partnership (PPP), while the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Limited (CIDCO) owns the remaining 26%.

Over 23 crore people visited Uttarakhand in the last 3 years, indicating a boom in tourism

Over 23 crore people visited Uttarakhand in the last 3 years, indicating a boom in tourism

With over 23 crore tourists visiting the hill state over the past 3 years, the BJP government led by Pushkar Singh Dhami‘s unrelenting efforts to boost tourism and pilgrimage in Uttarakhand are paying off, according to government officials who cited data from the tourism department.

The livelihoods of homestay, hotel, and dhaba operators, women’s self-help groups, and businesses working in the transportation industry have all benefited from this recent spike in tourism.

Uttarakhand’s tourism and pilgrimage industries continue to flourish as a result of the state government’s hard work.

The unique aspect is that Uttarakhand tourism has evolved into a multifaceted industry, with visitors increasingly visiting minor tourist spots in far-flung locations in addition to major cities and a few hill stations.

Alongside this, the hill state has seen a rise in both domestic and foreign visitor participation, encouraging adventure sports including mountaineering, rafting, trekking, and bungee jumping.

The benefits of tourism, which include lodging facilities, dining establishments, homestay operators, transportation entrepreneurs, women’s self-help groups, etc., are directly reaching lakhs of people in Uttarakhand as a result of the state’s tourism boom.

As a direct result of the state’s growing tourism activity, over 6,000 homestay providers currently operate in the state.

The state has also seen a sharp rise in pilgrimage activity. Five million pilgrims have traveled to the sacred Char Dham Yatra alone so far this year.

The trekking path between Kedarnath and Yamunotri had around 4,300 horse and mule operators this year.

Winter travel is now also being promoted by the state administration.

In the border region of Uttarakhand’s Pithoragarh district, pilgrimage and tourism have increased as a result of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the revered Adi Kailash.

Since the locals directly profit from tourism and pilgrimage, tourism is the main driver of Uttarakhand’s economy.

Consequently, the government of Uttarakhand is working to maintain pilgrimage and tourism throughout the year.

Uttarakhand’s pilgrimage, spirituality, and tourism have all increased as a result of Prime Minister Modi‘s trips to the mountainous state.

To enhance visitor experiences and boost regional accessibility, the Uttarakhand government is funding digital solutions, public-private partnerships, and tourism infrastructure.

The state is establishing itself as a global leader in tourism innovation and sustainable growth through initiatives including the introduction of digital tourism platforms and enhanced transportation systems.

Additionally, collaborations with foreign airlines and tour companies are assisting in the growth of foreign travel to Uttarakhand, especially from important markets in Asia and Europe.

DGCA fines IndiGo Rs 20 lakh for pilot training violations

DGCA fines IndiGo Rs 20 lakh for pilot training violations

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) fined IndiGo Rs 20 lakh for claimed shortcomings in pilot training at Category C aerodromes, the airline’s parent firm, InterGlobe Aviation, informed stock exchanges on Wednesday.

As per the company’s filing, the aviation regulator’s communication was received by IndiGo on September 26.

According to the DGCA, the airline’s inability to employ certified simulators for pilot training—which is required by aviation safety regulations—was the cause of the infraction.

The business stated in its submission, “Details of violation(s)/convention(s) committed or alleged to be committed: Alleged failure to use qualified simulators for pilot training at Category C Aerodromes.

IndiGo responded by stating that it is appealing the DGCA order in the appellate court.

The airline further stated that its operations, finances, and business operations will not be significantly impacted by the penalty.

The airline stated, “The Company is currently contesting this Order before the appropriate appellate authority. There is no material impact on the Company’s financials, operations, or other activities.

The business also provided an explanation for the disclosure delay, claiming that it was an inadvertent lapse in internal communication about the order’s specifics.

The low-cost airline stated, “The delay in disclosure was unintentional and was caused by a delay in internal communication of details pertaining to the order.”

On the National Stock Exchange (NSE), IndiGo’s shares ended the intraday trading session at Rs 5,630.50, down Rs 33.50 or 0.59 percent each.

Earlier this year, a technical problem at Lucknow airport forced the cancellation of takeoff of an IndiGo flight headed for Delhi that was carrying over 150 passengers, including Dimple Yadav, a member of the Lok Sabha and leader of the Samajwadi Party.

The mishap happened on IndiGo flight 6E2111, which was supposed to take off from Lucknow to Delhi, the official notification said.

New Railway connections between India and Bhutan will improve interpersonal ties

New Railway connections between India and Bhutan will improve interpersonal ties

India and Bhutan signed an Inter-Governmental Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday to create railway lines between the two nations, further enhancing their people-to-people ties.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said late Monday evening that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which was signed during Bhutan Foreign Secretary Aum Pema Choden’s visit to New Delhi, calls for the construction of the first set of cross-border rail linkages between Kokrajhar and Gelephu as well as Banarhat and Serhoamtse.

“These projects are part of our broader efforts to enhance connectivity between the two countries and will strengthen economic and people-to-people linkages,” the MEA said in a statement after conversations between Aum Pema Choden and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.

Both Foreign Secretaries examined the whole range of bilateral interactions during their meetings, noting the advancements made in each of the main areas of cooperation.

The successful commissioning of all six units of the 1020 MW Punatsangchhu-II hydropower project was specifically welcomed by them as a significant step towards the attainment of the India-Bhutan Joint Vision on Energy Partnership. Additionally, the statement noted that they were pleased with the continuing development cooperation projects and initiatives under Bhutan’s 13th Five Year Plan that were being carried out with assistance from the Government of India and were making good progress and benefiting the country’s citizens.

In order to improve connectivity and trade, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw earlier in the day announced new projects between India and Bhutan.

He emphasized the two nations’ common resolve to improve economic cooperation, sustainability, and regional connectivity. Key cross-border railway projects that will revolutionize bilateral relations were described in the announcement.

According to Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) for the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), the plan identifies two major links: the 20-kilometer Banarhat–Samtse line, which connects West Bengal with Bhutan, and the 69-kilometer Kokrajhar–Gelephu line, which connects Assam with Gelephu in Bhutan.

Together, these initiatives, which are valued at an estimated Rs 4,033 crore, he continued, will significantly increase trade, tourism, and interpersonal interactions.

The main export and import centers of Bhutan are Samtse and Gelephu, which serve the 700-kilometer India-Bhutan border.

The Bhutanese government is developing Samtse as an industrial town and Gelephu as a mindfulness city.

According to the CPRO, the Kokrajhar–Gelephu line has been designated as a special railway project, allowing for accelerated approvals and land purchase in order to speed up execution.

As part of Bhutan’s 13th five-year plan, he said, the Indian government will fund the Bhutanese share through the Ministry of External Affairs, while the Ministry of Railways will finance the Indian side of the project.

This strategy fully supports Bhutan’s development needs while guaranteeing that the Indian side has the largest share of infrastructure.

These railway projects would strengthen economic relations and promote balanced regional growth with India, Bhutan’s largest trading partner.

Air India Express passenger attempts to access the cockpit door in search of a restroom

Air India Express passenger attempts to access the cockpit door in search of a restroom

On a Bengaluru to Varanasi flight, an Air India Express customer reportedly attempted to open the cockpit door in quest of the restroom, the airline reported Monday.

Crew members arrested the man, one of nine on board, and turned him over to the Central Industrial Security Force as the plane touched down.

A representative for Air India Express stated, “We are aware of media reports regarding an incident on one of our flights to Varanasi, where a passenger approached the cockpit entry area while looking for the lavatory.”

The airline said that “robust safety and security protocols are in place and were not compromised” and that the event had been reported to the appropriate authorities.

The representative stated that the problem is still being investigated.

Air India Express said separately on Monday that it has begun operating additional daily direct flights between Bengaluru and Bangkok, with effect from Thursday. The flight will depart from Bengaluru daily at 11 a.m. (IST) and arrive at its destination at 4:45 p.m. (IST).

The goal of the new service is to give tourists easy, continuous access to Thailand, particularly during the approaching holidays and celebrations.

An Air India Express flight from Delhi headed for Indore earlier this month experienced a mid-air engine failure, forcing the pilots to make a “PAN-PAN” contact to air traffic control before making a safe landing with no passengers hurt.

In aviation, the widely recognized “PAN-PAN” signal is used to signify an emergency that is not life-threatening but necessitates prompt assistance from ground services or air traffic control.

On September 5, officials said that 161 people were on board IX 1028 when the crew detected an oil filter problem while descending into Indore.

A combined pre-tax loss of Rs 9,568.4 crore was declared by Air India and its low-cost subsidiary, Air India Express, for FY 25. Air India Express, which had been lucrative for years, lost Rs 5,678.2 crore as a result of this.

Restoring optimism and tourism in J&K following the Pahalgam terror incident

Restoring optimism and tourism in J&K following the Pahalgam terror incident

The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) is seeing a gradual but steady recovery in tourism, months after terrorists devastated Pahalgam, drove away visitors, and put India and Pakistan on the verge of war.

In addition to the tourists’ increased interest in Kashmir’s expansive and stunning landscapes, the government’s initiatives to revive optimism among the local populace and its resolve to bring modern infrastructure back to the Valley demonstrate its focus and resolve.

The Center and J&K administration went above and above to address the issues of families impacted, uprooted, and traumatized by cross-border shelling during “Operation Sindoor,” even as India punished Pakistan for the heinous act of terror.

By constructing free homes for families impacted by Pakistani shelling, the J&K government is putting compassion and hope above fear and a humanitarian strategy ahead of vindictive tactics.

According to local sources, the Divisional Commissioners of J&K and the High-range Rural Development Society (HRDS India) signed a historic agreement following the Pahalgam attack. The construction of 1,500 free dwellings throughout the Union Territory is made possible by this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), especially for individuals whose homes were devastated by militancy, floods, and “Operation Sindoor.”

The homes will be smart three-bedroom homes with amenities for sustainability, safety, and comfort—they won’t just be shelters. Building homes for the displaced and restoring the respect and dignity of thousands of families are the goals of this action.

The region’s economy, which still depends heavily on transit and tourism, will be completely transformed by the all-weather train connection between Srinagar and the main continent.

The opening of the Chenab bridge’s direct train connection to the Valley was a momentous occasion that will significantly affect Kashmir’s growth, commerce, and tourism.

Additionally, it is a positive move to unite communities and celebrate the fundamental essence of mankind when sporting events, like a cricket match in Pahalgam, are successfully organized.

J&K is currently on the verge of a revolutionary period, and the administration’s dedication to regional peace and stability is demonstrated by the wide range of infrastructure projects.

48 tourist attractions in the Valley had been shut down by the government after the barbaric attacks on April 22. Soon after, over a dozen locations reopened with increased security, and more to come.

The gradual reopening of the Valley’s tourist attractions would boost trust and draw more visitors, according to J&K Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.

Namo Yuva Run would mobilize more than 10 lakh youth across 75 cities

Namo Yuva Run would mobilize more than 10 lakh youth across 75 cities

The ‘Namo Yuva Run‘ is scheduled for Sunday all throughout the country, with over 10 lakh young people anticipated to run at the same time.

The massive event will take place in 75 different sites around the country.

On September 7, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) said that the national objective of this extensive project will be social awareness and fitness.

This program is a component of the festivities that the BJP arranged to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday on September 17.

BJYM President and MP Tejasvi Surya stated during a news conference held at the BJP headquarters that the run is being held under the theme “Nasha Mukt Bharat” (Drug-Free India).

“India has successfully fought narcotics for the past ten years under the direction of Prime Minister Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. In addition to promoting physical fitness, this race aims to protect our young people from the dangers of addiction, which impair people and jeopardize national security,” he stated.

Surya emphasized that it will be the greatest participatory run in the nation, with 10,000 to 15,000 participants expected at each venue.

The campaign will also include actor and fitness star Milind Soman, who has been appointed as the event’s brand ambassador.

“I’ve admired Milind Soman since high school. He is still the fittest Indian alive today and serves as an inspiration to the country’s youth. However, the greatest source of encouragement for young people is Prime Minister Modi himself, Surya said.

The leader of the BJYM connected the drug problem to broader security issues like financing of narco-terrorism, cross-border smuggling, and narco-terrorism.

He noted that India has greatly increased its enforcement in the last ten years, seized over 24 lakh kg of drugs between 2014 and 2024, as opposed to just 3.6 lakh kg in the decade prior.

“In the last year alone, 10 lakh kg of drugs have been seized and destroyed,” he stated.

On Sunday, the ‘Namo Yuva Run‘ will begin, uniting thousands of young Indians in a coordinated national appeal for discipline, physical health, and a drug-free future.

Adani Cement sets a world record for the largest religious temple

Adani Cement sets a world record for the largest religious temple

Adani Cement and its Group partner PSP Infra announced on Thursday that they had finished casting the raft foundation for the largest religious temple in the world at Umiya Dham, which is close by.

The 504-foot-tall Jagat Janani Maa Umiya Temple, which is intended to serve as the spiritual center of a sizable social and cultural campus in Jaspur, will have 1,551 Dharma Stambhs supported by the raft foundation for the future world’s tallest temple, which would measure 450 feet by 400 feet by 8 feet.

Using 24,100 cubic meters (M3) of “ECOMaxX M45” grade low-carbon concrete—a proprietary sustainable mix created by Adani Cement and setting new standards—this incredible feat was accomplished over the course of a continuous 54-hour operation.

Umiya Dham, which spans 60 acres in size and represents an investment of almost Rs 2,000 crore, is expected to become a famous spiritual landmark. Vinod Bahety, CEO of the Adani Group’s Cement Business, stated, “This project embodies the quality, scale, speed, and purpose that define Adani Cement. It is not just about setting world records.”

These, in the opinion of our Chairman, are not merely technical achievements but rather links between modern infrastructure and dedication. This idea—that faith inspires creativity and that creativity elevates entire communities—is exemplified by the successful raft casting at Umiya Dham. “We create solutions that last for generations and set new global benchmarks when we bring together innovation, people, and sustainable materials,” he said.

The company claims that this was made possible by 26 Ready-Mix Concrete (RMX) plants that were positioned strategically, more than 285 transit mixers that worked in a coordinated logistics network, 3,600 tonnes of high-performance cement, and more than 600 technical experts and skilled workers who worked in shifts over three days.

In order to maintain ideal temperature control and mix uniformity throughout the process, the entire operation was carefully planned to guarantee continuous pouring without cold joints.

The project’s carbon footprint was greatly decreased by using “ECOMaxX” concrete, which was in line with Adani Cement’s dedication to environmentally friendly building methods.

The world-record foundation of the Jagat Janani Maa Umiya (Parvati) temple is a proud moment for India’s engineering and cultural legacy, according to R.P. Patel, president of the Vishv Umiya Foundation.

“Adani Cement was a logical partner due to their demonstrated proficiency in executing large-scale projects,” he continued.

With 66% Supplementary Cementitious Material (SCM) incorporated into the “ECOMaxX M45” concrete mix, the carbon footprint is reduced by 60%.

Thermal stress was reduced by using a proprietary Coolcrete formulation that kept placement temperatures below 28 degrees Celsius. According to the company, thermocouples included into the framework continue to track temperature and durability in real time.

Adani Cement is still a major player in India’s real estate and infrastructure markets. In addition to technical wonders like the Chenab Railway Bridge in Jammu and Kashmir and famous buildings like the World One Tower, the business has expanded its skills to include spiritual infrastructure with the Umiya Dham Temple.

An IndiGo flight headed for Dubai was rerouted to Ahmedabad due to a technical issue

An IndiGo flight headed for Dubai was rerouted to Ahmedabad due to a technical issue

On Thursday morning, an IndiGo flight carrying about 150 people from Surat to Dubai was rerouted to Ahmedabad due to a mechanical issue with the aircraft.

About an hour and a half after taking off from Surat at 9:30 a.m., the aircraft made a safe landing at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.

The pilots detected a technical issue and performed a cautious emergency landing, according to confirmation from airport officials.

It took IndiGo about two hours to find a another plane for the passengers.

Around 1:45 p.m. local time, the replacement flight departed Ahmedabad and arrived in Dubai at 1:35 p.m.

IndiGo stated in a statement that a technical issue forced Flight 6E 1507, which was traveling from Surat to Dubai, to make a precautionary landing in Ahmedabad. Another plane was set up to make sure passengers arrived at their destination while the aircraft was conducting maintenance inspections.

We offered meals and refreshments throughout the wait and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. The representative went on to say, “The safety and security of our customers and crew remains our top priority at IndiGo.”

Only a month has passed since another IndiGo flight from Delhi to Goa was forced to make a complete emergency landing in Mumbai due to an engine failure in midair.

On July 15, that plane, registered as flight 6E 6271, made a safe landing at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

On the other hand, IndiGo’s parent firm, InterGlobe Aviation, saw its shares finish at Rs 5,734 on Thursday, down Rs 316 or 5.22 percent on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

The announcement that promoter Rakesh Gangwal’s family had sold equities for Rs 7,085 crore in a block deal caused the share price to plummet.

The promoter family is expected to sell 1.2 lakh shares, valued at Rs 7,085 crore, at an average price of Rs 5,830 each, according to several sources.
